    ICERECT-12

The First International conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer science and Technology (ICERECT-12) is another milestone in the 50 years of existence of PES College of Engineering, Mandya. This institution started by Ex. education minister Late K.V. Shankara Gowda during 1962, is a pioneer Institute of high repute imparting quality education to develop innovative and humane engineers. Presently the Chairman of PET (R) Dr. H.D.Chowdaiah is standing as a guiding force to bring this college to a higher level of excellence.

The Department of Electronics & Communication, Computer science and Engineering, Electrical & Electronics and Information Science & Engineering, with their rich experience has conducted an international conference on emerging trends to trigger the minds of researchers, faculty members and also students.

The aim of the conference was to provide a platform to the researchers and practitioners from both academia as well as industry to meet and share cutting-edge development in the related field. The Conference looked for significant contributions to all major fields of the Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology in theoretical and practical aspects. The Conference focused to provide an excellent international forum for sharing knowledge and results on the most recent and relevant research, theory, methodology and applications of Electronics, Computer Science Engineering and Applications.

We had invited a distinguished academician and an eminent researcher - Rangaraj M. Rangayyan, PhD, PEng, FIEEE, FEIC, FAIMBE, FSPIE, FSIIM, FCMBES, FCAE, "University Professor", Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Schulich School of Engineering, University Drive N.W., Calgary, Alberta, Canada, for delivering key-note address.

The chief guest Prof. D.K. Subramanian, Retd Professor of IISc, and also TEQIP Mentor of our college advised the research scholars to take up innovative experiments and perform meaningful research which will be useful for the society.

Dr. Rangayyan highlighted the importance of research and gave a thought provoking lecture on Retinopathy. This was followed by an invited talk by Dr.K.N.Bhanuprakash, Scientist ASTAR, and Singapore on Electronic Brain Atlas.

On 22nd Dr.Rajkumar Vedam, Invensys, USA delivered a talk on Search Directions for Intelligence which exposed the various areas to take up the research. The sessions were held as per schedule. Nearly One hundred papers were presented by the research scholars. The Valedictory function was held on 22nd in which Sri. Sharan C Padashetty, Special Officer, TEQIP, DTE, Karnataka highlighted the financial assistance to various research activities.

The papers received from various research scholars and students in and around the globe were of good quality. We had received around 260 papers out of which we had selected 118 papers. All the selected papers were presented and the deliberations were more useful to the research scholars. A number of researchers from both academic institutions and industries had contributed their novel methods, algorithms, analysis techniques to solve various problems in the above field. The innovative ideas of young researchers of various institutions were brought to lime light by sharing them with others in this platform.

The conference provided an opportunity for the Research scholars and faculty of various institutions to demonstrate their research talents in the emerging area of Electrical, Electronics, Computer and Information Technology related field. The response to the conference has been overwhelming with more than 86 technical papers presented in 16 sessions of three days. The response has been amazing. The content of the proceeding covers broad area like VLSI, Image processing, Pattern recognition, Big Data Analytics, Multimedia, Computer networks, Bio-medical Engineering, Medical electronics, Computer networks, Power electronics and Industrial drives. All papers have been strictly reviewed and at least two eminent referees were approached for every contributed paper. Review reports were critical and positive. All the selected and presented papers in the conference were published in IEEE Explore with the ISBN 978-1-4673-9563-2.

    ICERECT-18

Third International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology was organized during 22nd to 24th August 2018 and has witnessed research papers from diverse area of Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology covering important aspects in these areas. Theme is intentionally made generic to attract large number of researchers to a common discussion forum. Having rich experience in organizing International conferences over the years, ICERECT has developed into a well established conference bringing together academic scientists, professors, research scholars and students to share and disseminate information on knowledge and scientific research works related to Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology.

ICERECT 2018 is organized in association with Binghamton University, State University of New York, USA and financially supported by MHRD project TEQIP Phase III. Papers from emerging areas in the field of Electronics & Communication, Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical & Electronics will be part of the conference proceedings.

Pre-Conference Tutorial on “Deep Learning with MATLAB” by experts from The Mathworks India Pvt Ltd provided right stimulus to the Conference. The hands-on session enabled young researchers and practitioners with right kind of tool experience. The tutorial was tribute to Dr. V Sridhar, Principal of PESCE in recognition of his long service at different capacities at PESCE and in particular to his special interest to research. Conference was inaugurated by Dr. Madhusudhan Govindaraju, Professor and Director of Graduate Admissions, Department of Computer Science, State University of New York (SUNY), Binghamton, USA who also delivered Key note address. The inaugural function was presided by Dr.H.D. Chowdaiah, President, PET® Mandya. Sri. Prashanth Prakash, Founding Partner, Accel, India & Dr. Bappadithya Mandal, Dept. of Computer Science, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Keele University, Keele, UK, delivered key note talks.

Dr. Madhusudhan Govindaraju discussed impact of Big Data and Cloud Computing techniques in Resource Management and its challenges in this area. Dr. Bappaditya Mandal in his talk discussed the research work carried out in their university on deep residual network with regularized Fisher framework for differentiating melanoma (malignant) from non-melanoma (benign) skin cancer cases, which is supported by large number of experimental results from benchmark databases.

Mr. Prashanth Prakash being a very active entrepreneur highlighted three aspects in his lecture: 1. Innovative applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning in agriculture. 2. Technology to realize precision agriculture. 3. Emerging Companies in the agri-tech space.

The most important part of the conference is the paper presentation which went in six parallel sessions over two days witnessing 118 presentations. The skype presentation to encourage researchers who could not make it to the venue was a highlight this time. The valedictory function was held on 24th August 2018 which was presided by Sri H Honnappa Secretary, PET ®. The conference chair Dr. H V Ravindra, while delivering in his talk suggested the delegates to come up with good research work and aim to publish the findings in reputed publications such as Springer LNEE. On behalf of the conference committee, we sincerely thank all the delegates, reviewers, session chairs, management, participants, volunteers, TEQIP –III and Springer for their wonderful support.
